: From our Staff CorrespondentDIBRUGARH, Feb 1: Water Resources and Labour Minister Prithibi Majhi in a function held here at the Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School today distributed the Anundaram Barooah Award among the students who had excelled in the last HSLC Examination. All total 1,045 students of the district were eligible to receive the award. As many as 24 students among the recipients did apply for cash money instead of computers.Handing over the citation to five recipients, Majhi in his deliberation stated that the State Government sponsored such award distributed among the students who stand out in the HSLC Examination, had not only encouraged the students towards developing a scientific mindset but it opened up a new horizon in the field of education in the State. The headmasters of nine high schools with cent percent HSLC results were also awarded.The meeting presided over by Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Ashutosh Agnihotri was attended by Addl Deputy Commissioner Naresh Chandra Upadhaya, Inspector of Schools of the district Diganta Ramchiari and NABARD manager Dilip Kumar Das.Earlier, District Information and Public Relation Officer Satya Ranjan Kar gave a brief account of Anundaram Baruah and the award. source: sentinel assam
