Government should take initiative to improve education: Tapati

GUWAHATI, Feb 11: A press meet was held at the ACTA office in Guwahati on the problems of higher education in Asom today. All India College and Universities Teacher Mahasangha vice president and Bombay University College Teacher Union general secretary Dr Tapati Mukhopadhya spoke on the occasion regarding various problems relating to higher education in Asom. She said, as the higher education system of the State is not developing and as the Government is not taking the initiative to improve it, students are left with very little choice but to go out of the state to pursue further studies. She also said that it is the duty of the Government to lay emphasis on the development of infrastructure of colleges. In her speech, she spoke on the deteriorating scenario of the schools and colleges in the rural areas where attendance rate is decreasing day by day due to absence of teachers.
