10 TVs, 15 bicycles distributed in Hamren sub-division
: From our CorrespondentDONKAMOKAM, Feb 19: As election is stated to be held in the next couple of months, the Congress is well ahead in poll campaigning in Karbi Anglong. Congress (Mandal) held a meeting at Rongkroi ME school playground under Hamren sub-division where Dr Mansing Rongpi, MLA 20th Baithalangso LAC attended as chief guest and distributed 10 nos of televisions, along with DTH and at the same time 15 nos of bicycles were distributed to 15 beneficiaries. Sing Teron MAC and local EM KAAC presided over the meeting. The sets were distributed from the scheme of Asom Bikash Yojna (ABY). The other guests includes SDO (civil) i/c Hemanta Raj Kumar of Hamren, Chin Terong Dev, Block, BDO, Nirola Phangchoi, Ranjit Teron, Sukumar Sangma, president Karbi Anglong Garo Union and many more.The MLA as the chief guest urged the beneficiaries not to use TV as only entertainment but to focus mostly on present worldly affairs. The distribution is first of its kind in Hamren and mostly rural people will be benefitted form it.

Monthly news magazine to be inaugurated
: Our Staff CorrespondentDIBRUGARH, Feb 19 : The pre-inaugural issue of the monthly news magazine "Bartayan", published under the auspices of Sonowal Kachari Students' Union (SKSU) will be inaugurated by noted writer Gagan Chandra Sonowal, at a meeting to be held at the Laxminath Bezbaruah Bhavan here on February 27. Former president of the Asom Xahitya Xabha, Dr Nagen Saikia and former lecturer of Dibrugarh College and noted journalist, Sarat Barkakoty will grace the function as honoured guests. Informing this, the editor of Bartayan, Ratan Hazarika, told this reporter that the magazine would cover various aspects of Socio-political developments besides review of news and cultural activities of the region.
