Jintu Vihar inaugurated


GUWAHATI, Feb 8: GOC 101 Area, Shillong, Major General K S Sethi, SM today inaugurated Jintu Vihar residential accommodation complex for 212 Army Personnel comprising of 34 JCOs and 178 Other Ranks (OR) quarters in a simple ceremony at Narangi Army Campus. The complex has been named as JINTU VIHAR in honour of Late Capt Jintu Gogoi, VrC of 17 GARH RIF, who made the supreme sacrifice in a most conspicuous act of bravery and devotion to duty on the night of 29/30 Jun 1999 during OP VIJAY in Kargil Sector, J & K. Jintu Vihar, which has a total of 21 Blocks containing 212 married quarters has been built at a cost of approximately 21 Crores. With the inauguration of the Jintu Vihar Complex, the Narangi Army Garrison can now boast of excellent housing facilities for Army JCOs and Jawans.
