: From our Correspondent JORHAT, Feb 3: An Assam Police constable was suspended and sent to jail along with his brother-in-law for the alleged brutal assault on a family near Charingia under Pulibor police station last night. According to information available, Dambaru Gogoi and his wife and son, who were travelling in their Maruti car, were stopped by the errant constable, Pulin Bora, who was riding on a motorcycle, over an issue of giving passage on the road. Bora and his brother-in-law, who was riding pillion, reportedly started assaulting Gogoi. The duo allegedly hit Gogoi’s wife and son, too, when they tried to intervene. Gogoi, who was on his way to Jorhat from Kaziranga for medical treatment, later lodged a formal complaint at Jorhat Sadar police station. Acting on it, the police immediately swung into action and arrested Bora and his brother-in-law. Both were produced before the court and later sent to judicial custody.
