Violence has decreased in Assam, says CM Tarun Gogoi

Guwahati, Feb 17 (PTI) Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said violence had come down in the state due to sustained efforts of the army and other security forces.

Praising the armed forces as one of the "best in the world", he said besides a decrease in violence, many activists of major militant outfits have surrendered.

Gogoi complimented the army for having a cordial relation with the government and other security forces in the state.

"We have the best of cooperation with the army which has been serving well down the years in the field of internal security," he said after inaugurating "Know your Army" fair at the Judges field here.

The visitors at the fair were treated to a thrilling display weapons including rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers, rocket launchers and mortars. Dog show, horse show and an aero model show were also conducted by the army personnel.
