Imphal, February 08 2010: To commemorate the 175th anniversary of Assam Rifles, IGAR (S) Maj Gen CA Krishnan inaugurated newly constructed extension building of Zion's Children Home at Mapao Khullen today.
According to a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S), the building was constructed under Military Civic Action Programme taken up by 39 Assam Rifles.
9 Sector AR Brig Gajendra Prasad and various civil dignitaries also attended the function.
Speaking at the occasion, Maj Gen CA Krishnan said that the newly constructed building would accommodate and benefit more children in the home.
He also assured that Assam Rifles would continue its efforts to provide such assistance to remote villages in coming days.
A medical cum dental camp was also organised to provide free medical aid to villagers.
Apart from distributing free medicines, free medical and dental check-up of 313 villagers were carried out in the camp.
