Gandhi Festival gets under way
From our Staff Reporter
DIBRUGARH, Feb 15: “After being thrown out of the first class compartment of the train in South Africa, the first thought of Gandhi was to ask why Indians were hated so much. He saw the filthy way they lived and said so much to them. Before the birth of a satyagrahi, a safai karmachari was born. Gandhiji taught the essentials of sanitation and it includes that of thought.”
This was said by the Director of Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti (GSDS), Dr Savita Singh, during the function held on the inaugural day of ‘Gandhi Festival: An initiative to promote Gandhian Values,’ at the District Library here today. The four-day long programme has been organized by district administration and GSDS, New Delhi.
