Assam: 80-year-old man expecting 31st child

Mohkhuli (Assam), Feb 16: Meet a 80-year-old man with four wives, 30 children, who is expecting his 31st child!

"Don't judge someone by his weight or height. I am young at heart although I am not going to marry any more and am happy with my 30 children and another that one of my wives is expecting," Hussain Ali told a news agency.

The man, whose oldest son is now 40 years old, is expecting his 31st child from his third wife.

Craddling a two-month-old baby, Ali said, "It is all god's gift and wish that I have a large family of four wives and 30 children."

Painting a picture of the 'young at heart' octogenarian, the report said, donning a skullcap, Ali looked frail and emaciated as he sat in a rickety cane chair outside his cluster of mud-and-thatch huts at Mohkhuli village in Lakhimpur district, about 370 km east of Assam's main city Guwahati.

Even though he could not recall all his children's names, the man is able enough to keep his four wives and all his children happy.

The wives stay in separate huts in the same compound and get enough time with their husband Ali, as he makes it a point to stay with all of them by turns in their respective huts.

"There are no complaints whatsoever from my wives or my children," Ali said.

About half of Ali's children are married and live separately. Admitting that it sometimes becomes difficult to meet all the needs, Ali is thankful that some of his sons are old enough to provide some financial support to him.
