Itanagar, Feb 16 (PTI) At least one third of the Rs 20,000 crore to Rs 30,000 crore being invested by the Centre in Arunachal Pradesh under PM's package would go to Assam economy as downstream effect, Arunachal Governor Gen (retd) JJ Singh said today.
The railway project should help the local economy and people on both sides (Assam and Arunachal Pradesh) should feel that it is their project, Singh said while reviewing the progress of work of the new broad gauge work of the Harmuti- Itanagar at Harmuti railway station on inter-state border.
Involvement of people is must for success of any project, he said.
"Moreover, it is important for national security. Direct monitoring of the project by PMO will help the project to complete on time," Singh said.
