Meet on women empowerment held

DIBRUGARH, Jan 6: The Dibrugarh District Mahila Congress (DDMC) held a workers’ meeting on women empowerment here on December 5.

The Dibrugarh MP Pabon Singh Ghatowar was present on the occasion as the chief guest.

While touching upon the legend behind the creation of Goddess Durga, he said that women were accorded high position in society since ancient age.

The Dibrugarh MP went on to talk about the steps taken by the Congress Government to empower women and mentioned that fifty per cent of the panchayats and town committees were reserved for them. He said that the country’s progress was possible only when women come forward and assert their rights. THE SENTINEL
