GUWAHATI, Sept 2: An eye check up camp was organized by the Lions club of Guwahati, Kamrupa, and Lions club of greater Guwahati at Chaygoan with the help of a local NGO, Abhilash, and District Blindness Control Society, Kamrup (R), stated a press release.
About 575 patients were examined by Guwahati Kamrupa Lions club president Dr Anil Agarwal, Eye surgeon Dr Dibakar Ranjan Kalita and by ophthalmic assistants from DBCS, Nolin Deka and Dimbeswar Das. Free medicines were also distributed to the patients in the camp. 147 cataracts patients were detected in the camp and these cataract patients will be brought to Guwahati Netralaya, Kumarpara, for their free cataract operation. Lions Kamrupa members largely participated in the camp. Leaflets on eye donation were also distributed in the camp.
