Concrete replaces 1,200 wooden bridges in State

GUWAHATI, Sept 24 – Of the 5,000 wooden bridges identified across the State, the State Government has completed construction of more than 1,200 of them, while around 1,000 are still under construction. The bridge conversion project was undertaken to convert the wooden bridge with concrete structures, especially in remote areas, to improve on the existing communication system.

State Public Works Department Minister Ajanta Neog, while talking to media persons, said, “We are going about it in a phased manner and very soon most of the bridges would be replaced by concrete
