16 candidates file papers in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, March 16 – All seven candidates of the Congress from the district submitted their nominations in the district’s election offices here for the ensuing Assembly polls, while five from the BJP, three from NCP and one from AGP also placed their nominations.

The Congress candidates include – Etuwa Munda (Ting-khong), Pranati Phukan (Naharkatia), Amiya Gogoi (Duliajan), Raju Sahu (Chabua), Prithibi Majhi (Lahoal), Dr KK Gogoi (Dibrugarh) and Jibontara Ghatowar (Moran).

The BJP candidates are Prasanta Phukan (Dibrugarh), Rameshwar Teli (Duliajan), Dipuranjan Markary (Ting-khong), Ranjit Konwar (Lahoal) and Sarnalata Saikia (Moran). The three NCP candidates include Bina Konwar Baruah (Duliajan), Karthik Tanti (Naharkatia) and Bipin Chetia (Chabua).

Before the submission of nomination papers, the parties, particularly BJP and NCP, took out huge processions but were stopped near the Chowkidinghee ground. Only the candidates along with a few party workers were allowed to proceed.
